The Icelandic Saga Centre

As a guest of Saga Center, you have the opportunity to enter the world of mythology, ocean voyages, and the discovery of new lands.

Here you can meet the characters in the famous Saga of Brennu-Njáll, often referred to simply as Njál’s Saga or, as Icelanders call it, Njála; you can sit down and rest in a Viking lodge in true chieftain style, or take a look around the Ţingvellir of a thousand years ago.

But it is also possible to take a glance back at the 20th century: run down to the local co-operative or to the office of the co-op manager at the Co-op Exhibition, which traces the history of trade, commerce, and the co-operative movement in South Iceland of a period of more than 100 years.
